My Spring 2024 food pantry haul included both
a box of Pillsbury "yellow cake mix" and a tub of chocolate frosting! :)
I had made more complex boxed dessert mixes in my crockpot, so was confident that a simple cake mix would crock well.
It did. :)
I made half of the mix at a time, with about a week between the two batches.
Originally, I was going to combine it with the chocolate frosting,
however the cake itself was so tasty that I ate all of it plain, both batches. :)
I now plan to stock yellow cake mix.
Note that the only issue I had, was that the first batch was a bit more than half
and I was sloppy when I placed the (usual) wash cloth between the crockpot lid and the crock body.
The cloth drooped, the cake mix rose, and the two contacted each other.
The result was not bad, merely annoying, with some cake being wasted and the cloth needing to be cleaned.
Next time, I was much more careful.
The next cake mix I made, I split it into thirds, which worked out well, so I plan to standardize on that ratio.
