Kaylee's not-a-blog » Food » Meals » ramen with poached egg & dry vegetables

Spring 2022, butane prices rose dramatically (about three times normal), so I experimented with using my crockpot for pasta type meals, using a short backpacker cooking pot nested inside the crockpot.
The lightweight nested pot is easy to insert & remove from the crock, and it's much easier to clean.
I quickly found that the key is to heat the water for about one and a half hours on Low, then add the pasta at the very end.

After the water has heated for an hour & a half, carefully crack an egg into the water, cover, continue cooking for about half to three quarters of an hour.
When the egg is to the desired doneness, remove the nesting pot from the crockpot, add the ramen noodles and any other desired ingredients (I use my standard combo of dry vegetables & sometimes onion), re cover, and let sit for at least three (3) minutes.

This is a nice easy protein upgrade from regular ramen. :)
