Recently, I found a great deal on SPAM Singles ($0.63 each),
and, since green peppers & onions were still at good prices,
decided to try making
philly style cheesesteaks with SPAM instead of beef.
It worked out well. :)
I still had some of the fancier "French rolls" (from a Kwik Trip sale),
and they were superb.
After finishing them, I switched to ultra-low-end hotdog rolls from (Dollar Tree),
which weren't as good, but were more than satisfactory.
I experimented with grilling the rolls/buns at the same time as the SPAM Single,
by cutting the SPAM in strips, then laying it around the edge of the frypan,
with the rolls/buns in the center.
As soon as the rolls/buns were sufficiently browned, I removed them, and replaced them with chopped onions.
That worked out very well, saved fuel, and increased the grill time on the SPAM. :)
SPAM slices arranged around edge of pan, with buns in center:
Cooked SPAM, onions, green pepper, and both types of cheese,
loaded onto grilled hotdog rolls, ready to eat:
