In late fall of 2020, my Aldi pepper mill broke, after almost 3 years of regular use.
I was about to Migrate South for the Winter,
and planned to do at least one major restock at Aldi,
so expected to get a replacement.
Sadly, Aldi had discontinued that product, and didn't have an alternative.
They did give me a full refund, with no hassle, and were genuinely sympathetic.
I hate changing products, so for about six frustrating months, I checked prices & reviews.
The biggest surprise was that almost all mainstream pepper mills are not refillable,
so I researched refillable ones, finding the usual range of flakey reviews. :(
Finally,
two months ago,
I was picking up some items at Dollar Tree,
and decided to check their spice area, though I assumed that a pepper mill would be too expensive for them.
To my surprise, they do carry one! :)
It's lighter than the old Aldi one, but doesn't feel frail, when in use.
The first three (3) times I used it, it was difficult to get it to produce anything,
so I tapped it a few times firmly against a plastic bin, which always helped.
After that, it has worked easily, every time, even with my frail & weak hands.
As you can see in my recent
eggs-within-tortilla experiments,
after half a year without,
I've been going a bit overboard with pepper, and feel properly human again. ;)
