Kaylee's not-a-blog » Food » Meals » copycat Crunchwrap Supreme, using teriyaki flavored beef jerky

Recently, I spotted a great clearance deal on sour cream, plus a decent price on lettuce, and immediately craved crunchwraps, but it was my last stop and I was too exhausted to make an extra stop to buy budget meat...
then I remembered that I had a bag of teriyaki flavored beef jerky, which I had been meaning to use with ramen, but it made sense to try it as part of a crunchwrap.
I bought the sour cream, tried the jerky, and it was superb. :)

Steps:

Bottom line:

Beef jerky works well in a crunchwrap! :)
In particular, the teriyaki flavoring was a pleasant alternative to taco flavor, and the whole was excellent.

I was pleased enough with this experiment that when I saw a recent deal on the same flavor (different brand), I bought a packet (just one, since jerky is generally expensive).

Notes:

I made 4 crunchwraps, over 4 days, and still have enough jerky left to make one or two.
One time I undersoaked the jerky and it was noticeably tough, the other times it was fine. It's much better to soak longer. :)
The jerky was "Clover Valley" brand (Dollar General's in house label), was bought in 2022-Jan with a "best before" date of 2023-Jun-08 and was eaten in late 2023-Aug.
It came with an oxygen absorber, and there was no noticeable unpleasantness.

ToDo:

Next batch, I'll measure the mass of the jerky, before & after soaking, and carefully measure all other ingredients, so I can generate an accurate costs table.
